Aim of this paper is investigate the affect of first passenger line company of Ottoman Empire, Şirket-i Hayriye, to Istanbul City life in 19th Century. 

This paper searches the answer of "How was the passenger transfer and water transfer before any machine propulsed ship in Istanbul?" at first section. After that, it investigates the growth process of Istanbul City and searches the demands of the citizens who lived welthy suburban districts.  

Than it explaines the company of Şirket-i Hayriye. Floowing section compare the development steps of Istanbul suburban districts before Şirket-i Hayriye founded and after its ships started to work between city center and Bosphorus districts of Istanbul. 

Finally; this paper shows us the maritime has the same affects like the Internet in previous centuries. It was the biggest communication and way of knowledge transfer between two splitted residental areas.
